Problems installing W7 and XP

Post by sinned »

Not sure where to begin.

I got my unit yesterday and since then i tried installing XP/Vista and W7.
Vista doesn't give any issue's (except missing the igorusb driver) but is very slow for HD content.

Windows7 setup or install doesn't boot with audio enabled, i was wondering if you got it working with audio?

Winxp i installed after Windows7, so maybe the problem might be because of a previous install.
I can boot into the install menu, but after installing i get an error:
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk.
Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.

I thought it might be a sata driver i have to slipstream or load during install.
But then why could i install windows.

Are there diffrent bios settings for each OS?
Is there some kind of document with the best settings per document?

The hardware is great btw, never thought it would be this small.
My power usage is somewhat higher then advertised, but i still have to play with some power saving settings.
And the unit does get a little warm.

We are not experts in Win7, but we installed separately two units with the RC with no issues.
For audio you may install Realtek ALC260 Vista drivers.

In the bios on the last page where you can reset the bios to defaults etc, the very last option (cant remember what its called) it resets hardware info, try that,
I had to use that before i could get windows 7 to install at all.

Which version of W7 did you try?
The last RC1? or a previous version?

Still strange i had to disable audio in the bios.
If i enable it i can't even boot into windows, let alone install the drivers you mentioned.

Maybe if i slipstream the drivers into the install...

I tried resetting the settings in the bios.
And that worked :)

Today I have installed windows 7 RC on my new fitpc2.
To install this OS:
1 .Go to the bios and reset to factory default.
2. disable audio
3. you can select a OS setup somewhere in the bios put it on winxp.
4. install windows7
5. after compleet install of the OS reset your fitpc2 and go to the bios again
6. enable audio again now windows will install your sound and you are ready to go.

This is how i installed windows 7 and all works exept IR driver.

Now for my problem How can I play HD content because it's not working for me.
Is it possible to stream HD contend from windows7

my display driver is 7.14.10.1092
cheers

p.s I'm new here ;-)

The best HD playback is achieved with the proprietary drivers supplied with the fit-PC2 XP HD
However, Windows 7 RC has a cetain HD playback capability in WMP.

i've got my fit-PC2 today, and i am trying to install Windows7.
Followed all the steps on this topic but i have no luck.
i get the following error:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
i have 3 options: Browse, OK, Cancel.

tried to browse for some drivers, but i had no luck installing. any points on how to install Win7 32bit will be appreciated.
