No audio - Now i need to learn how to play the piano...

Post by gman »

Have installed Ubuntu 9.10 and applied the fit-pc2 specific files according to the install turorial in the wiki.

SO Now i need to learn how to play the piano if I want audio/sound to the movies :) that is what you should have to silent movies.

I cant get any sound, when i installed the Fit-pc2 stuff i also lost the sound card. installed it by adding snd-intel-hda to /etc/modules and in /etc/modprob.d/alsa-base.conf i commented out the last line cause i don't know what to write. it should look something like this "options snd-hda-intel model=?????" or ?

now " aplay -l" gives this
htpc@fit-pc2:/etc/modprobe.d$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: MID [HDA Intel MID], device 0: ALC260 Analog [ALC260 Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
and "sudo lspci -v" this
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation System Controller Hub (SCH Poulsbo) HD Audio Controller (rev 07)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 8119
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 22
Memory at b0050000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [70] Express Root Complex Integrated Endpoint, MSI 00
Capabilities: [100] Virtual Channel <?>
Capabilities: [130] Root Complex Link <?>
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel
and "grep 'audio' /etc/group"
audio:x:29:pulse
checked alsamixer and nothing is muted.

Does any one have a clue what's wrong , its a standard ubuntu 9.10 and all updates install with fit-pc2 specific binary's

Don't any one else have problem with audio/sound ?

Try boot with official Ubuntu or another distribution installation CD/USB and check if sound works.

If not - it must be hardware problem, go to the RMA page http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php?title=RMA
