linux-image package in the karmic repository

Post by noone »

Hello, I just updated my fit-pc2 from the karmic repository and I received a new version of linux-image-2.6.31-34-fitpc2.
I then typed

Code: Select all

 dpkg -s linux-image-2.6.31-34-fitpc
to get some details about this package.
I will not output the whole thing, but here is the last paragraph about this package

Code: Select all

You likely do not want to install this package directly. Instead, install
the linux-fitpc2 meta-package, which will ensure that upgrades work
correctly, and that supporting packages are also installed.
I checked to see if there is such a meta-package linux-fitpc2 on the fit-pc repository, but no such package exists. Not that this is a problem, but it could indeed make upgrades go smoother with this meta-package. Installing one meta-package with the right dependencies can simplify the whole installation process for people (instead of telling them to install each of the packages manually as it appears in the installation instructions)
