fit-pc2 (ubuntu) and wifi
Is it possible to disable wifi hardware? If so, how so?
Re: fit-pc2 (ubuntu) and wifi
I'll reply to this myself.
On Ubuntu 8.04 fit-PC2 simply right-click screen icon near date on top menu bar and enable/disable to you heart's content!

Re: fit-pc2 (ubuntu) and wifi
From the command line: identify the driver module name by running "sudo lshw -C network" then editing "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist" and adding "blacklist <module name>" to the end of the file. On my Fit-pc2 running Ubuntu 8.04lts "<module name>" is "rt3090sta". Now reboot the system. The wireless hardware will now be disconnected. This has solved some system hanging issues for me where I wasn't using wireless connectivity and only had access via an SSH terminal via Ethernet.
