Wireless Conductivity
Wireless Conductivity
I recently purchased a Linux FitPC2 from Tirgerdirect.com. I installed Windows XP a couple days ago. My wireless network is setup to use WPA/WPA2 with AES. I had problems with wireless disconnecting when I just installed the driver so tonight I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled with the utility. It stays connected to the network now but I am unable to get a Rate over 54. It appears to been connected as 11GN mode with 100% signal.
Re: Wireless Conductivity
Normally you should not expect rate over 54Mbps with a single antenna as in fit-PC2. That's why it is rated as 802.11g.
Re: Wireless Conductivity
Would a larger antenna help signal strength?
Re: Wireless Conductivity
I don't expect it to help. 802.11n is based on MIMO and requires two antennas on the AP and NIC. However, there are some implementations that give over 54Mbps with a single antenna on the NIC.
