I need help with PC

Hello,
I bought a new fit-PC 2i without a HDD. Now I wanted to connect my two IDE HDDs - where Ubuntu 8.10 is installed - with it, and obviosly have to buy an IDE to SATA adapter, or one to connect them via USB.
So my question is: Will the computer boot the Ubuntu OS if the HDDs are connected via USB, and/or, if not, is there a connector or a cable available with a male SATA plug on each side/end?
Many thanks in advance for any hints!

Booting from external USB drive through fit-pc2i with Ubuntu OS should be possible.
Please bear in mind that this is a matured product and working only in 32bits.
