Mint installation problem (solved)

Post by Stough »

I attempted to install Mint from the .iso image, copied to a CD-R. Mint booted fine from the CD, and the install seemed to go fine until it got to the point of configuring the hardware. At that point the install aborted.

I took a screen shot of the abort message and attempted to add it to this post, but I am not sure that worked. I do still have a copy of it.

Stough,
Try to install Mint using usb-stick, may be there are problems with your CD-R.

I created a USB installation key with linuxmint-9-gnome-cd-i386.iso and repeated the installation attempt. This aborted near the end of the process just as it had when installing from the CD.

I have a screen shot of the error message.

I did download the .iso again from an alternative download site and did a cmp of the two files, and they were identical.

I had reported that my install of Mint 9 failed near the end of the process. There appears to be a problem with the install.py file when you specify a mix of partitions to format and not to format. I have resolved my problem by using some code from Mint 8 and updating the sources.list file.
