screen rotation (solved)

Post by BrotherRichard »

I am wondering how to rotate the image on the screen 90 degrees (to allow using a display in portrait orientation).

The xorg.conf file (in /etc/X11) has an option (Option "ALL/1/Port/2/General/Rotation" "0") which was usable under Ubuntu (change the 0 to 90), but under LinuxMint 9, using that option breaks the system, causing it to display a blank (black) screen with a cursor only (no panel, no menu, no anything else).

On my LinuxMint9 it works fine, tested with couple of displays.

Ok, I did a fresh reinstall/update and it works. I must have broken something in the other install.

Thanks
