Hi,

Recently upgraded my fitPC2i from LInux mint 13 mate to mint 17, works beautifully EXCEPT the sound which breaks up into a stutter all the time, impossible to listen to music or voice, happens both when playing video and plain sound .

Does anyone know of a sound driver or whatever fix for this???

Along similar lines, is the Wiki ( http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/Fit-PC2:_Software ) going to be updated with instructions for installing Linux Mint 17 on the fitPC2/i ?

Hi Derek,

I don't quite understand . . . . . .

Are you saying to use the Linux mint 13 work around for mint 17

or do you mean that there will be a similar one up for 17 soon?

Regards

Neither. I am asking a question.

The question that I am asking is basically whether CompuLab will provide a documented procedure for installing Linux Mint 17 from scratch on a fitPC2/i.

I'm about to re-install a fresh Linux on my FitPC2i.
My Mandriva key just died... I tried Mageia 4, no luck...

I'm back to the most supported Linux for this hardware: Mint.

Same question: what's new about Linux Mint 17 and FitPC2i ?

Does the install tricks for Mint 13 still work ,for Mint 17 ?
Or shall I install 13 and upgrade to 17 ?
Or maybe the Mint 17 works from out of the box, at last ?

I really don't understand why there isn't a working iso image for FitPC2i, years after the hardware release...

Report:

I failed to install Linux Mint 17 from Mate 32 bits ISO image (black screen during boot of installer).

I installed Linux Mint 13 (Mate 32 bits ISO image too) without any workaround. 8-)
Maybe graphics aren't optimal, but I don't care: it's for an headless server ;)

I'll try a partial upgrade to Mint 17, maybe after the downgrade trick for best graphic perfs, just to be sure that it doesn't upgrade itself too much regarding Xorg and driver.
Any advice regarding that is welcome !

Hi Advid,

For me 17 installed fine except for the sound which is unuseable.

When I tried to reinstall 13 on one fit pc2i so as to at least have sound on one computer it repeatedly failed, suggests that once having installed 17 its not possible to go back to 13.

Ended up having to reinstal 17 and live without sound, Not good.

Support, would it be possible to offer a workaround for 17 similar to the one given for 13?
This seems a reasonable request 17 is the next Linux Mint LTR.

Oh really ? :o

Good to know, I'll try again then...

I just bought a new SSD to replace the USB key as storage for FitPC2i.
I think I'll try Mint17 again for a fresh install...

(and I don't mind about not having sound, this is for headless server)

Yes, runs beautifully :D apart from the sound issue, but I'm not running 'headless' so really need sound :( !

Would be very good if someone from the support team could provide a fix to get sound running in Mint 17 ;) its a Long Term Release so will be something that maybe a lot of other users will want to migrate to as 13 gets a bit long in the tooth.

What about it, someone from the support team :?: Please!

Linux Mint 17 is a brand new release and will be supported as the official one in the near future. But of course it can be downloaded, installed and tweaked if needed even today...
