The problem we are talking about is a problem where an BIOS update is needed and ONLY an BIOS update can fix it.

It does not matter what else you do in the OS if BIOS can not increase the UMA buffer size.

Play some HD conent and look for screen freezes every few min... This can hardly be called playing HD content properly.

Anyway thats what we get for going with a not so well known brand.

Best Regards

We have tested several 1080p video files looping by VLC media player (LM 15) for a several days without freezes.
Do you experience issues playing all type of codec or a specific one?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I have several 1080p files which do not play smoothly, in fact I don't have a single one that does. Running ubuntu 12.04 LTS with fglrx Version: 2:8.961-0ubuntu1. Any hints, suggestions? (PS: VLC, mplayer, mplayer2,...)

AMD G-T40E Processor (dual core)

The OpenELEC (XBMC on barebone linux) installation guide for Fusion makes the solution clear. As various forums does.

I can however not check further into what codecs as I have moved on - FitPC is now downgraded to act as server at my summer house taking care of some security cameras.

I prefer to use VLC media player, but even XBMC smoothly played big buck bunny at 1080p resolution.

Can you try the latest Ubuntu/Linux Mint with fglrx-updates?
