Debian on fit-pc3

Post by archinet »

I am going to purchase several fit-pc3 - disk-less and separately HD and install Debian (You can as well answer if it was Ubuntu)
1. What architecture should I use - amd64?
2. Can I just install from ISO image? Everything will be in place?
3. Should I apply any kernel patch? Have not seen any patches for fitpc3

Regards

Hello

You should use the x64 architecture. FitPC3 has a full support for the Linux Mint 11, which is based on the Ubuntu Linux distribution.

Not sure of supported.
But I have debian on my - Just downloaded latest 64bit image.
Use Unetbootin to create a bootable USB.
Use the netinstallation - and everything works fine.

I installed Ubuntu from the uNetbootin USB image using the mini ISO and it's working here. Second the recommendation to use the 64 bit version.

I tried just that : debian testing amd64 from the multi-arch netinst CD (2 days old), and everything went fine until first reboot : then the screen went "snowy", absolutely still (from the tiny disk noise, the system went on booting, though). Known issue with debian testing ? Would you rather recommand stable ?

I'd guess it's simply that you need the firmware-linux-nonfree package for the graphics driver to work.

Ordered PC2 years ago; installed MEPIS DEBIAN LINUX on it; and, it works great!

Look forward to buying more low power consumption machines.
