pfSense 2.0.1/FreeBSD 8.1

Post by Nadrek »

Has anyone else tried pfSense and/or FreeBSD 8.1 on a Fit-PC3? My intended configuration is a Multi-Gbit Ethernet FACE module, a Sparklan WPEA-111N 802.11a/b/g/n Mini-PCIe half size AR9280 wifi card, and a Ubiquiti SR71-e 802.11a/b/g/n Mini-PCIe full size AR9280 wifi card.

I'll likely have to modify either the case or the FACE module to add two more wifi bulkhead connectors, but that shouldn't be too hard.

It'll be awhile, but I'll try to report results back when I have them.

I'd be very interested in hearing how your efforts turn out. I'm thinking about using pfSense on a Fit-PC3, as well.

I'll let you know! I'm just waiting on the GbE FACE module to be generally available, and am hoping to find a more powerful half size WiFi card.

I can confirm that the fit-pc 3 works fine (including the gig-e 4port plate) on pfsense 2.0.x and 2.1. I had to do nothing special to get it to work.

Since it sounds like freebsd 9 has some issues, this may not be true under pfsense 2.2, but since that development is just barely starting... who knows.
