Mini PCIE SSD Bootable

Post by jtliii »

Is the Mini PCIE Slot Bootable? If so are there any brands of Mini PCIE SSDs that have been tested with the fit-PC3. I have been able to run the intel SSDMAEMC040G2 40gb with and mSATA adapter in the SATA port. However would prefer to run the OS on the mini PCIE slot and free up the SATA port for 1TB 2.5".

Is there a specific brand or model of Mini PCIE card that has been tested?
I tried the following, but the bios doesn't recognize any of these.

Intel SSDMAEMC040G2C1, not recognized in the Mini PCIE slot but does work with the MSATA to SATA adapter.

RunCore 32gb, not recognized in the bios in the Mini PCIE slot but it is also working with MSATA to SATA adapter.

Super Talent FPM16GLSE SATA II Mini PCIE 16gb, not recognized in the bios in the Mini PCIE slot but is recognized in MSATA to SATA adapter.

Active Media Products N16G-HMPCIE2 Saber Tooth AA - 16gb SSD. Not working in either the Mini PCIE or the MSATA to SATA adapter.

KingSpec 16gb, not recognized in the Mini PCIE slot or the MSATA to SATA adapter.

Is there a specific brand and model that has been tested?

I have tested the Intel, RunCore, Super Talent on the XStreamer Ultra and it does support booting from the Mini PCIE slot. Running WES7 P SKU, openelec, Ubuntu with much success. This is an Atom based motherboard but it is the only one that I have been able to utilize thus far.

Are there any other up-to-date cards supported?

I don't know how to determine if the pin 43 is grounded.

I would be glad if somebody could suggest me any other bootable card with better read/write performance than the Transcend TS16GMSA300.

Is there a bios update or some settings that have to be adjusted to recognize the Mini PCIE SSD? I received the TS16GMSA300 this afternoon and I have two issues. The first issue is when I installed the card the unit wouldn't power up. I powered it back down reseated the card and it finally did boot. After the successful boot however the card was not recognized. The card details:
Transcend TS16GMSA300
SN: 487986-0118

I haven't tried the card in the MSATA to SATA adapter yet, just curious if the is something that has to be updated in the bios.

Thanks in advance.
