USB over-current change errors & disconnects

Post by rambler »

Hi,

I have two USB devices connected to my fit-pc2 - a Current Cost power monitor and a weather station. After about 12-24 hours I get messages like this in syslog:

hub 4-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1
hub 1-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1
hub 1-0:1.0: port 2 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling...

They are directly connected to the rear USB ports of the fit-pc2, not through a hub and it happens with both devices.

I moved one to a desktop PC running the same latest CentOS 5.4 kernel version and it's been running fine now for 2 days so it confirms the problem is with the fit-pc2.

Any ideas?

Hi

I think I see someting like you!

I use a Usb smartcard reader based n FTDI chipset.

If I do a reboot with that in the system, The application just go crasy. I cant even kill the process.

If I boot the FIT with out The reader and plug it in later everything works fine.

I run Ubuntu 9.10

I use to run the same setup on am older IBM T23. The problem was not there.

Please guide me to send you some logfiles.

Thanks
