How to use the highest resolution 2560x1080p (21:9)

Post by tbolting »

Hello,
I'm using a fit-PC3pro running Windows.
I'm trying to use it on a 21:9 tv. I read that we can achieve this with the display port.
I have one dp to hdmi adapter (from a dell laptop), I think it is working as I have an image on my display.
But I can't select 2560x1080, only 1900x1080.

How can I select the highest resolution? Is it mandatory to have a display port TV? Does it exist?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can do test if you have ideas.

Thanks, best regards

As I see, your TV model supports up to 1920x1080 video input

Thank you for your answer!
Too bad, I missed that spec when buying this tv :(

Can you tell me if it's possible to interface a TV that is 2580x1080 capable with the displayport to hdmi converter I have or if the tv must be displayport capable?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Thibault

As far as I know, there are no 2580x1080 TV's. TV resolutions follow broadcast standards - 720P (1024x720), 1080P (1920x1080) and a few 4k (3840x2160) units are just starting to appear on the market. When HD TV's first came out there were some weird resolutions.

There are some computer monitors that support resolutions such as 2560x1440 or 2560x1600. Right now, I'm using a 30" Dell monitor that supports the 2560x1600 resolution but the price of admission is high. The down side is 1080P video has to up-scaled which can cause it to look slightly soft. Although, down scaled 4K looks very good.

Please look for the desired resolution input support from your TV manufacturer
