I recently purchased a fit-pc2 with windows preinstalled.
The disk was DOA. No big deal as I planned to swap it out for an SSD anyway. I put a 60GB SSD in place of the HDD.
I don't have a USB DVD handy so I made a bootable NTFS flash drive and put all the bits from the recovery DVD on it.
BIOS recognizes it as bootable but nothing seems to run. I just get a blinking underbar in the upper right of the screen.
I've tried both DOS and OTHER for Large Disk Access Mode to no avail.
Any other trickery available to me?
Thanks,
Dale.
Restore from flash drive
Re: Restore from flash drive
See http://fit-pc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2330 for installing
I recommend you send back the hard disk for replacement.

Re: Restore from flash drive
1) I don't have time for that turnaround (I need to demo with this beast next week)
2) I prefer to have an SSD system. The HDD was a throwaway for me from time of purchase. I just want to get it set up.
Thanks,
Dale.

Hello Dale
This guide explains you how to make a USB stick with a Windows 7 installation. Ones installed on your SSD, you don't have to use the USB stick.
Also you can use some third party tools like yumi or unetbootin. This tools are unsupported by Compulab, so use them on your own risk. This tools will help you with an initiative way to transfer Windows 7 installation files from a disk media to an USB drive.
