What is auto-on?

Auto-on indicates that when power is applied to the computer it is waking up and booting without user intervention.

Auto-on on fit-PC2i

In fit-PC2i auto-on is always present.

Auto-on on fit-PC2

By default, fit-PC2 revision 1.21 does not wake up automatically when power is applied. To boot fit-PC2 the user has to press the power button.
This was found to be limiting in the case of power-outage in applications requiring fit-PC2 to be always-on.
For this type of applications fit-PC2 is offered with auto-on option designated as -ON in the part number.
Example: fit-PC2-C1600-W-ON.

Auto-on is a HW change to the motherboard that results in automatic boot of fit-PC2 when power resumes.

Note: previously we called this option “instant-on” but some readers found the term confusing, since it is often used to describe operating system that loads quickly.
